Hospitality Photographer in Christchurch

Last updated: 18. Jan. 2026.
Hillsborough, Christchurch.

About me in 30 seconds:

In a nutshell, I’m a hospitality marketer who captures photos your hospo business needs. I delivered your pictures in 24 hours. You pay nothing up front, you get the photos first. Our handshake is the contract.

I am a hospo marketing specialist, a husband, a father and a glass-half-full kind of happy chap. In 2021, my family and I came back to NZ from Hungary. We are now based in Hillsborough in Christchurch. While I currently also work with clients overseas, I am eager to connect more with local business owners. With my paid ads and social content, I am working hard to meet others in person. I have never lived in Chch before. I hardly know any local kiwis.

In my spare time, I regularly read, journal, run up the Rāpaki track, climb in Uprising with my 11-year-old son and go to Cityfitness on Moorhouse. I also love meeting people and exchanging ideas face-to-face.

However, you won’t find me discussing sports, politics, drinking, or the weather with others; I don’t follow any of those topics. Instead, I love talking about learning, self-development, healthy living, and marketing and design-things that, for me, are meaningful. I love real-life human interactions; they pump me up.

Books I am currently reading:
Die with Zero – Bill Perkins
The Black Swan – Nassim Nicholas Taleb
Atomic Habits – James Clear
The Art of Non-Conformity – Chris Guillebeau

Books I recently read:
Screw it, let’s do it – Richard Branson
On Money – Rick Morton
Managing oneself – Peter F Drucker
Rework – Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson
Communicate – Ian Grant

All time favourite podcasts:
Kapil Gupta – Conquering the Mind
Naval Ravikant – How to get rich without getting lucky

Restaurant Photography in Christchurch

The client (the owner) wanted photos featuring the top managers at the restaurant (the head chef and herself), and high-quality photos to showcase selected dishes from the summer menu.

Read what my client said:

“His professionalism,
creativity, and eye for detail were outstanding from
start to finish…”

Hospitality Photography in Christchurch

Promotional photography project for a Christchurch restaurant for social media. The restaurant needed high-quality photos to showcase its outdoor area, with people having fun, so we worked with models acting as guests.

Read what my client said:

“…he took time to understand what we were trying to
achieve, he add advice & feedback & we created a
plan of attack for our photo shoot. He nailed it….”

Product Photography in Christchurch

I was assigned by the client to shoot a variation of photos that they could use to decorate their cafe and use them online.

The main purpose of the shooting was to showcase the cookies and their unique selling point which is delish stuffing in the middle. These are a small part of the images I took.

Hospitality Photography in a Restaurant

Another day at the office at Fisherman's Wharf in Lyttleton. We have been photographing some food items and the restaurant staff.

The main purpose of the shooting was to communicate the unique selling point of this restaurant, which is its' awesome view of the harbour.

Product Photography in Christchurch for SpicyBoys

I was photographing the recently launched Chilli Gin product from SpicyBoys.

I captured a couple of photos for the webshop and styled other images to showcase the drink as it is usually consumed, in a sunny, summery-like environment.

Product Photograper for Peter Timbs Meats

The client wanted to refresh their webshop product photos. They wanted to find out what the image would turn out to look like. I created some test photos of three products with various backgrounds and created a mockup, placing these test shots on their website. It is easier for the client to decide, when they can see the final "look" variations. Then, I was entrusted to make the product photos with off-white background.

I suggested the client not to include the pricing on the labels to keep the photos "evergreen". They liked the idea, and I photoshopped all pricing off all the labels. These final photos are now on their website. (last screenshot in the slide)

Food Photographer for CBK restaurant

Recently, I was photographing three dishes at CBK in Ferrymead. The idea was to find the right angle that would display the Dubai Chocolate dessert, the stone grill experience, and the nachos served uniquely from a canteen. I liaised with the chef on how to prepare the dishes, as I needed about half an hour to an hour to adjust the lights and setups to find different angles for the same food.

I ensure that I photograph the same angle from both horizontal and vertical perspectives. Why? One is for social media content, and the other is for use on the website, brochures, or printed promotions - horizontal images work better in that case.

How many ways are there to photograph a dish? Hundreds of angles. As a photographer, my job is to find the best angles that the client will like. If I fail to deliver photos the client likes, I do not charge anything.

In the recent months I had the pleasure of photographing the product range for SpicyBoys in Chch. I was also shooting their Southern Spice Chilifest at the end of March in Ferrymead Park.

AI vs Real Photos

I have made an experiment and took some of my hospo photos and asked chatGP to create the realistic copy of it. I was interested to see, whether AI is ready to replace photographers or not just yet?

You be the judge... see the results, compared side-by-side.

Personal updates:

"Rising Sons" - Wainui Bay

I have spent a magical weekend with my son on the Rising Sons program that was organised by the Tracks Foundation. The focus of the program was for fathers to connect with their ten year old sons. They helped to become better fathers. It was lifechanging.

Auckland family trip & street photos

My family and I visited Auckland after eight years. We loved the city life. We stayed downtown on the 30th floor overlooking the Skytower. We also took our son to Hobbiton on the day of his 10th b'day. That was his present.
